Dursley Festival
Saturday 25 June 2016
It's always good to see Dursley Festival, with the town full of smiling people and activities
Switzerland

Sadly we needed to go to a family funeral in Switzerland, where some of my wife's family lives

Saturday 30 April 2016
We return for a walk in the Black Mountains, with a new variation on a couple of old favourite routes: firstly up Tal Trwynau, continuing over Mynydd Llysiau
Beautiful Bluebells
Friday 29 April 2016
As with last year and the year before, I've collected my bluebell photos into one blog post. I love seeing how the woods develop over this short time, with the leaves coming out on the trees over a carpet of bluebells.
Uley Birthday Beacon
Thursday 21 April 2016
A good crowd came out to see the magnificent beacon fire on Uley Bury, to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday

Spring flowers on a walk to Uley
Monday 28 March 2016
Another sunny spring day, although not quite as warm as Good Friday, so we walked over to Uley.
Follow the Cross to Cam Peak
Friday 25 March 2016
A beautiful warm spring day - so there was a good turnout of people to follow the cross from the centre of Dursley to the top of Cam Peak
Severn Bore
Friday 11 March 2016
Some of my photos from last time we last saw the Severn Bore were recently published in Paddle Surf magazine. This time we went back to Arlingham to watch the bore, near the Old Passage Inn.
Around Downham Hill
Saturday 27 February 2016
I've been fortunate to have been walking all over the world in the last couple of months - New Zealand, Hong Kong and Snowdonia. I'd not done a proper walk locally for far too long.
White Snowdonia
Saturday 13 February 2016
The mountain tops of Snowdonia were properly wintry
A winter's night on Pen Y Fan
Sunday 17 January 2016
Just back from New Zealand, we weren't suffering from jet lag but season lag - suddenly changing from summer to winter.
Hong Kong
Friday 8 January 2016
We had a one night stopover in Hong Kong on the way home from New Zealand. I loved the contrast of the busy, sometimes quite gritty street level and the vast vertical skyscrapers.
New Zealand South Island
Thursday 7 January 2016
We just visited New Zealand for the first time, exploring by car and on foot. It's a very easy place to love, with stunning scenery that's so accessible, at least once we'd made the long journey south.
Tokyo
Monday 14 December 2015
On the way over to New Zealand, we stopped in Tokyo for a couple of nights.
Ottery Tar Barrels
Thursday 5 November 2015
I've been going to the Ottery Tar Barrels for well over ten years
Morning Mist
Friday 9 October 2015
As we got up around sunrise this morning, there was a beautiful layer of cloud hanging low nearby, with the peaks of Downham Hill and Uley Bury visible above it
Dursley Walking Festival
Sunday 4 October 2015
I did two of the walks for the Dursley Walking Festival. Even though I go walking regularly from our house here in Dursley, I still learned a couple of new paths and had a good chat with many people on the well attended walks.
Total Lunar Eclipse
Monday 28 September 2015
We saw a partial solar eclipse earlier this year in Dursley - and tonight we saw a total lunar eclipse. However it did involve a 3am alarm for us!
A night on Pen Y Fan
Sunday 27 September 2015
Pen Y Fan is such a busy mountain, I didn't really expect complete solitude by spending the night near the summit
Berkeley Deer Park
Friday 25 September 2015
Berkeley deer park has been a favourite place of mine to take photos for several years now
Frampton Country Fair
Sunday 13 September 2015
Our second visit to Frampton Country Fair
