Cotswolds ~ Ozleworth Bottom and Marlees Brook

Sunday 21 September 2014

A modest walk around the Cotswolds, not far from our house. We'd been in Ozleworth Bottom a few times before, but today we explored the delightfully tranquil valley only marked with Marlees Brook on the 1:25000 OS map, not much visited I should think.

I planned a simple circuit starting from Kingscote, passing by the old abandoned church and older motte at Newington Bagpath, then passing near some grand houses, before entering the woods of Ozleworth Bottom. After that it was up Marlees Brook, before a short stretch of lane back to Kingscote. It's a very peaceful and pretty part of the Cotswolds and I enjoyed the hazy sunshine as summer gives way to autuum. Not long now before the leaves turn golden, but right now the greens edging into yellow are gorgeous.
