Cotswolds springtime walk ~ Dursley to Coaley Peak
Saturday 18 April 2015
Last week we went for a stroll and found the bluebells were largely still to come out, so I photographed wood anemones instead. Today there were many more bluebells out and they are beginning to look good. I love this time of year when everything changes so fast in the woods. The leaves on the trees have just come out and are developing fast, then there are many wild flowers. We saw several swallows too, our first of the season. (At least in the UK, we'd seen them in Sicily at Easter.)
We walked for much of the day and went a fair way, through the woods from Dursley continuing on beyond Uley. Then a short climb took us to Nympsfield, before we went out to the busy viewpoint at Coaley Peak. Finally we took the well maintained Cotswold Way, and some little country lanes, back to Dursley. The paths are all very dry, even cracking up in places, and there aren't overgrown plants blocking the way, so it's easy going at the moment. A wonderful springtime walk!
