Pembrokeshire Coast and Puffins
Sunday 12 July 2015
We went with some friends back to beautiful Pembrokeshire, again camping on the Marloes peninsula. We explored a little more of the coastpath, got down to the wonderful Musselwick Sands (only possible at low tide) and took a ferry over to Skomer Island to see the puffins.
This was the first time I've tried to photograph puffins in flight - it's not easy, as they are surprisingly small and move very fast. Even at 1/1500s shutter speed I was seeing some blur in their wings. On the land they are so tame though, it's easy to get close up photos with a smartphone, as it was when we saw puffins in Iceland last summer.
