Black Hill and Bat's Castle, Exmoor
Saturday 6 August 2016
This is well known ground for me, as I grew up around here. We walked from Carhampton on the edge of Exmoor National Park, up over Black Hill. On a clear day you can see for miles from here, over the Bristol Channel to the Brecon Beacons and when it's exceptionally clear to the two Severn bridges. We didn't see that far today, but it was good to get out and get some miles in. From Black Hill, we dropped back down and over Bat's Castle, an old iron age hill fort, then finished by crossing Dunster deer park.
