West Bay to Lyme Regis Coastpath walk
When we lived in Exeter, we visited this coast many times. This weekend we came back to visit some old favourite places and explore new ones. We wanted to do a linear walk - the countryside inland might well be pretty, but it's the coast that we came for. Today we caught the X53 bus from Lyme Regis to West Bay, then walked back on the coastpath. The weather forecast suggested heavy rain would arrive mid afternoon and I reckoned we'd just about have time to complete the walk. Indeed the downpour started just as we got into Lyme Regis, a perfect excuse to enjoy some Chocolate Guinness Cake in the Galley cafe.
Beer, Donkey Sanctuary and Branscombe circular walk
The little fishing village of Beer has long been a favourite of mine. Many years ago we walked from here to Sidmouth one way. Today we walked two thirds of the way along the coast, then turned inland to the Donkey Sanctuary, then back along lanes through Branscombe. I'd forgotten just how pretty and dramatic the cliffs and coastpath is around Hooken Cliffs - and our route took us past twice, with fantastic light on the return journey.
I'd love to hear what you think...
