Severn Bore

Friday 11 March 2016

Some of my photos from last time we last saw the Severn Bore were recently published in Paddle Surf magazine (Issue 9, p59). This time we went back to Arlingham to watch the bore, near the Old Passage Inn. This has great views over the river Severn to the church at Newnham. There was a small crowd of spectators and quite a few surfers braving the muddy water. There was plenty of exposed mud as we arrived, then the Severn bore appeared and the scene changed in minutes. A breaking wave followed by water surging upstream - a fantastic natural phenomenon.

If you are planning a visit, www.thesevernbore.co.uk is well worth a look.
