Brixham to Dartmouth Coastpath Walk

Saturday 18 March 2017

Although I love the Cotswolds countryside near our house, I do miss the sea, so I like to take any opportunity for some coastal walking. This section of the coastpath, from Brixham to Dartmouth, made a great walk. We took the bus from Kingswear to Brixham, then spent a while enjoying Brixham harbour and nearby Berry Head. So it was quite late in the day before we started walking properly - and there's a long way to go! It's around 17km and nearly 1000m of ascent, as the path climbs from the sea to hills several times. It's a fantastic stretch of coast though, even on such a grey and windy day. After leaving Brixham it felt quite remote and we hardly saw anybody until back in Kingswear, where we caught the ferry back over the river Dart to Dartmouth.
